Is everybody still “Surfin’ USA” like The Beach Boys are?

Show me a rock band that has had more success than The Beach Boys…I’ll wait! And as I wait, I’m reminded of how things used to be; imagine waking up on Christmas morning to the sound of “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” or “Little Saint Nick” blasting from somewhere in the living room before the special aroma of burnt spruce hits your nostrils, whetting your appetite for both the music and the food! Life was so good, it’s almost hard to explain it. And boy bands made us share in the beautiful memories with their soul-reaching and heartwarming music that still feels new every time you stumble upon it from your stuffed vintage collection put somewhere nice, and only distilled for those rare occasions of seemingly incurable sadness!

Now… Let’s REWIND though, back to the 60’s where the dimension is set, the mood is cool and the sounds are making your head, feet and toes wiggle back and forth.

It was on March 4, 1963, that the original version of “Surfin’ USA” was released, and it went on to break every available record of those days. Borrowing from Berry’s own “Sweet Little Sixteen,” The Beach Boys went on to remake their own version that was just as sweet, if not better.

“Surfin’ USA” is the sort of track that puts you in a certain dimension; it takes you back in time and is capped with specific memories to go with the sweet, delicious singing over the poppy instruments, quenching that musical thirst for days.

Some of this music from the past received little criticism. I mean, come to think of it, what was there to hate about a pulsating “Sweet Little Sixteen”- flavored rocker with the boy’s band belting it out with that coin-catching eagerness over the terrific instrumental showcase that makes you want to surf on dry land!

“Surfin’ USA” became one of their most popular and enduring songs. The song reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number two on the Cash Box pop chart, and it was also a top 10 hit in Canada – and got known throughout the globe.

“Surfin’ USA” was a major breakthrough for The Beach Boys and helped to establish them as one of the leading bands of the 1960s. The song’s success also helped to popularize the surf music genre, which was a major part of American youth culture at the time. Swinging us back to this time of today, there still is quite some love for these guys and the music.

Overall, “Surfin’ USA” was a major commercial and cultural success for The Beach Boys, and it remains one of their most well-known and beloved songs to this day. Just take a look at the plays on Spotify, it isn’t exactly few.

If you need a fine reminder on how happy you can feel through music, take a listen to the track and REWIND yourself back to the 60’s!
