Austin Butler as the King himself: Elvis Review

Photo: Warner Bros. Film – Elvis

Is Elvis alive?

Yes. And he lives in Austin Butler! Butler delivers the icons true colors and grace through an outstanding performance of a lifetime. The King of Rock’n Roll is back.

Everyone knows of Elvis Presley and the talents he delivered behind the scenes, on stage and on records. It’s a legacy. Elvis was different and obliterated all senses of the “normal” guy down the street, those terms didn’t even exist for him. He was a sexy revolution!

Now let’s Roll the Rock a littler further in time towards today. Baz Luhrmann directed this fine piece of pop art. Written by himself, Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce and Jeremy Domer. The results have been praised by many, and critized by some. But if you’re going for the top, it’s always gonna be someone pointing fingers.

Fast paced and electrifying

The film condenses Elvis Presley’s entire career into a fast-paced 2 hours and 39 minutes, highlighting both the excitement and emotional highlights of his journey, as well as showcasing the exploitation he faced from his manager, Col. Tom Parker (played by Tom Hanks, who underwent significant prosthetic transformations).

Baz Luhrmann’s film features an electrifying performance by Butler, who portrays Elvis Presley as a groundbreaking artist at the crossroads of tradition and modernity, blending carnival and television and defying the norms. Luhrmann revives Elvis’s legacy, which was previously reduced to a Las Vegas joke, by showcasing his revolutionary and captivatingly dangerous and sexy nature. Butler delivers a stunning performance, bringing to life Elvis’s raw sexual charm on stage. From his early days to his comeback in 1968 and his Vegas shows, Butler brings Elvis’s iconic musical moments to life, and Luhrmann’s direction and editing emphasize both Butler’s performance and the impact Elvis had on his fans.

Elvis has definitely NOT left the building.
